Michele Duivenvoorden  has worked in the beauty industry through education, television, fashion, cosmetics, retail sales, marketing, and modelling for over twenty years.  Michele began her career as a student at Humber College in Ontario studying Cosmetics, Fashion Modelling, Television, Event Promotions and Related Careers.   During her studies she had the opportunity to work with television stations, casting directors, beauty salons, top modelling centers and agencies, fashion show choreographers, designers, photographers and models.  After graduation Michele went on to open a self development and modelling school in Barrie & Toronto, Ontario.  Producing and commentating hundreds of public appearance fashion shows and live television fashion events.

Over the past 20 years, Michele has related her expertise to include actively working ‘on-set’ for makeup and hair, styling and talent casting and fashion & commercial photography.  Retail experience in sales, marketing and corporate promotions, salon management, real beauty markets such as trade show events, bridal showcases and esthetic services. As a beauty specialist, make-up artist and model development scout, Michele not only offers her skills and techniques as an educator, but also finds time to actively consult in the expansion of creativity, business plan progress and curriculum program development for educational facilities as a member of their advisory committees and for salons, corporate businesses.  Michele has a true passion for the beauty industry.

In 1992/93 Michele worked for The Ford Supermodel of Canada tour as the regional scout and event coordinator.  Michele was also the event commentator for fashion productions throughout Ontario during this scouting event.  Continuing her scouting career Michele was recruited as a Canadian scout for Next Management New York and became the co-creator and coordinator of a unique scouting tour and event for Canada, including event materials, promotions and marketing.  Michele has developed and placed models with the top worldwide agencies such as Ford, Whilhelmina, Elite, Eye for I, Models One, Ad Plan, Folio, Giovanni and many others both in North America and the European markets.

A long time key makeup artist in television; CTV globemedia/A Channel Barrie, The New VR (division of Chum Ltd.) and City TV, Michele actively fills the additional role of talent co-ordinator, and casting associate with them showing her skills and desire to multi-task and be a team player. 

Home base for Michele is Vasey, Ontario (just north of Barrie) where she is constantly developing innovative ideas and opportunities for the continued success of her career path and personal goals. Michele has also founded the beautycrew Artist Team, consisting of fellow professional artists for a ‘REAL BEAUTY’ agency; offering their skills for on-set makeup including HD air brush application artistry, beauty workshops and seminar instruction, bridal services, esthetic and spa services, makeup matinees, and professional product supplies.

Michele D. works with leading cosmetic companies to enhance their product development, brand awareness and market plans for distribution and retail representation in CANADA; and a variety of professional cosmetic products and skin artistry lines within her travels as a cosmetic beauty buyer and product distributor.

In 2003 Michele authored and created an interactive multi-media training program for women to understand the concepts for step-by-step makeup applications called MAKING THE FACE with Michele D.; being introduced and available throughout Canada at selected salons/spas/schools.  Michele has also developed the Makeup Artistry Program certified curriculum through the Ministry of Education, colleges and Universities outline for an Academy in Barrie, Ontario.  Michele was also the cosmetic program educator for Humber College Fashion Arts program and continuing education department; while sitting on their advisory board for Spa and Fashion Management programs.

Michele has been the keynote and makeup industry trainer with ABA (Allied Beauty Association) for the Total Beauty Shows throughout Canada.  Michele’s work is also featured monthly for trends and style advice to professionals in beautybeat & Spa; Canadian Hairdresser; and Sun Media publications. 

In 2003-2004 Michele worked with the leading cosmetic brush manufacturers in Japan to design her own line of professional cosmetic brushes called b’PRO and b’GIRLZ toolz. 

August 1997 Michele was appointed and welcomed to the team of M PROFESSIONAL Make-up Company and Morlee Group as a platform/training make-up artist and key production makeup and model coordinator for commercial spots and cosmetic inserts in use for marketing materials.  Michele was responsible for the Canadian promotional photos and assistance in video production for the M product line and team management and set-up of make-up artists, hair stylists, models, photographers, wardrobe stylists, video-grapher and location coordination.  To comply with her knowledge and interactive approachable personality, she added to her workload through a contracted position as marketing and store level sales representative and platform/product introduction educator for Morlee Group promoting the lines of Hawaiian Tropic Suncare,  M Professional Cosmetics, Physician’s Formula, Kiss Nails, Accessory Concepts, Reflections of Nature (music program), through corporate and store level of Shoppers Drug Marts, Wal-Mart, Zellers, Pharma Plus Drug Marts, Pharmex Rexall, and Loblaw stores.

In 1998 Michele traveled to Hawaii to work as the production assistant with the Miss Hawaiian Tropic USA finals where she handled contestant relations, backstage continuity, and assistant to the production co-ordinator including television and on-stage spokesperson.

Michele has taught make-up artistry at modelling schools, agencies, television stations and beauty salons as well as conducting private and corporate workshops for over 15 years.  Michele is an active member of C.N.o.M.A. (Canadian Network of Make-up Artists) where she was awarded top 5 Canadian makeup artists in 2005.  A member of W.A.M.A. (The Worldwide Alliance of Makeup Artists); Women in Television and Production, Film Toronto, Hollywood North Online and her work and editorial advice contributions can be seen in magazines such as; Salon, Movie Line, Images, Wedding Bells, Today’s Bride, Cosmetics, Detour, Beautybeat, Spa, Spa Canada, IDM, CHILD Magazine, FLARE and Teen Flare along with her major client  of OLG (Ontario Lottery and Gaming)

2007 Michele opened the first ‘teen spa party place & makeup studio’ company called beautycrew girl studios in Vaughan.  February 2008 beautycrew girl was nominated by Cadillac Fairview as one of the top 25 Canadian Companies for the ARC Awards (Achievement in Retail Concepts). 

Presently in addition to her beautycrew business, Michele works as a cosmetic manager for Shoppers Drug Mart and continues to do work ‘on-set’ & with her bridal clientele staying true to her passion of ‘real beauty’ artistry and cosmetic coaching.

Michele always finds time to give back to the community and others and was a former volunteer as a credited make-up specialist with the Look Good Feel Better Cancer Treatment Program.
Both career woman and mother of three boys Michele strives on her success and progress within the makeup and television/film industry!  Michele’s dedication and aim for achievement will continue to lead her in the direction of inspiring results with the top industry professionals.
